It’s summer time, so that means it’s time for a bunch of low alcohol, fruity beers to come out and try to attract the female market. we saw this last year with the cider explosion, and this year, it looks like it’s going to be radlers. A number of bars around here have been pouring Stiegl Grapefruit Radler and now Waterloo has introduced one.
I’ve seen a lot of other beer drinkers having it and most of them said it was good and refreshing. I kept meaning to buy one, but my trips to the LCBO have been few and far between ever since we came back from the States with about 120 beers. Jackie grabbed one when she was in Toronto and brought it over one sunny afternoon.
I opened it up and poured it out, and as I did, all I could smell was grapefruit juice. It was very powerful! The first taste was as if I had just poured myself a big glass of pamplmousse juice! I don’t like that! After a few minutes, however, it started to warm up a little and the it was actually not that bad. It was refreshing, but not thirst quenching.
I wouldn’t do it again. Way too sweet for me.
