Here it is. The beer that I was so excited for when the wife picked it up. A hefeweizen (I love) with a healthy dose of cascade hops (I LOVE). It’s like the Reese Peanut Butter Cups of the beer world!
Unfortunately, my expectation of this wicked combination was lowered significantly after drinking Schinider-Weisse’s take on a hopfenweisse. It was all saisony and stuff. That’s not what I want!
I had this on a Wednesday night, after a pretty rough Tuesday with Mark (see the last 5 posts). Jackie had come back from BC with new beer, so I let her in. I had been holding onto this guy for when we were together, since she was as excited as I was. I really didn’t want to drink that night, but I got over that quickly.
It poured out hazy yellow and smelled of wheat and hops, so at least it smelled better than the other one did. It had a good amount of head on it, about half an inch. After that fell, I tried it. It tasted…..like a saison. Damn! I’m so tired of saison tasting beers this fall. It did have a little more weisse flavour to it, a little more “creaminess” I guess. But still…blah.
