In keeping with the wife’s motto of “if it’s in a box, I buy it”, I came home one day to see this beer sitting on the table..in a box. It was a pretty box too. When I put it in the fridge, I noticed that the cap had a tamper sticker on it too. This must be some special beer if they went through all this. I hope it’s all worth it, though. Looking back, there really was only one St. Ambroise I liked, their Pale Ale.
When it came time for me to have a beer one night, probably after training, I grabbed a small 330ml one. After I picked it up I saw that it was an Imperial stout, so, you know, strong. It poured out like old motor oil; thick and black as night. It had a little brown head on it and man, did it smell great. It was sweet with malts and at the same time, kinda hoppy.
It tasted very rich with dark malts but was super smooth going down. On the booty, you could really taste the 3 hops they used to balance it all out.
I was very impressed. I really enjoyed this beer. I asked the wife if she’s seen it since, but it’s all gone. At least for this year.
