Dinner was being served soon (honey garlic ribs) and we wanted something different to drink with it. I went downstairs and grabbed the first thing that I saw that wasn’t 10% and wasn’t a regular beer. We’ve had some good luck with chocolate stouts in the past, so we knew it would be pretty easy to drink. We thought that the sweetness of the honey garlic sauce would taint the flavours of the beer. Turns out, it made it better.
It poured out black and immediately started to smell like chocolate. It smelled more like Brown Cow than Chocolate Manifesto did. It tasted very sweet when it was cold, but mellowed out after warming up for a while. This is one of the few cases that I’ll say it could have used a few more percent of alcohol, just to combat the sweetness.
I’m really starting to think that chocolate and beer were made to be together. I’m actively looking for a white chocolate beer. If you know of any, let me know.
