Moving right along with Rogue Day, here is the second of three chocolate themed beers of the night. If you remember #StoutDay, the best beer we had that day was Sanders Chocolate Stout, with an amazing blend of smokey stout and delicious dark chocolate booty. That beer made our 2013 top 10 with no chance of being knocked off. Now, with that as a gauge, let’s see how Rogue stacks up.
We poured it out into our glasses and immediately were hit in the nosebuds with a chocolate smell. That’s a good sign to start off with. It was super black and had a light brown head that, when you actually smell it, smells like a stout. We tried a sip, just a little, since we were in the middle of putting the kids to bed. But that little sip was all it took to encourage us to get them to bed fast! It was beautiful! It was smokey up front and, just like Sanders, left a great chocolate after taste.
We didn’t really give it time to warm up, which may have let some more of the chocolate flavours out, but who cares, it was amazing the way it was.
For a brief moment, we had 2 chocolate stouts on our top 10 of the year. I say brief, because that all changed when we poured out our next beer……
