The wife picked this up a few weeks ago when we were on our way out to a friend’s house for a late night swim. She grabbed herself a flat of Palm Bays and me a box and a half of new beer. She grabbed this because the label said Portland. Enough said.
Jackie and I split this as our final beer. It poured out dark yellow, a nice double IPA colour. It smelled like it was full of Simcoe hops; dry, piney and buttery. It tasted big and bold. It was a mix of booze, bitter hops and butter. Ya, I say that a lot about double IPAs.
It was another case of “why do they have to make it THAT strong”. The booze overpowered the flavour of the beer. It was a good beer, just not mind-blowingly great. On a side note, when I checked in, I saw that Pyramid make a bunch of beers that sound great. If I ever get to Portlandia……
