This is one of the hardest times for me. We say goodbye to the summer wit beers and hello to the spicy, Oktoberfest and pumpkin beers. Those are good beers, but I don’t want to stop with the yeasty, wheaty goodness of my white beers. So, in the next few weeks, before my first pumpkin beer, I need to plow through a few hefes. Here’s number one.
Paulaner is a great name in German beer and their Salvator is the only one I’ve had. So when the wife brought this one home, I was super excited. I decided to open it up on a rare Tuesday night dinner with friends (we had to cancel the Friday). So, ribs in the crockpot, rice on the stove…beer in hand. When I poured it out, it was a nice, light yellow colour with a big frothy head. Immediately, I could smell orange and coriander. It tastes almost the same as Hoegaarden, except this one is a lot lighter in the booty.
Fantastic beer. Only Mill Street Belgian Wit was better this year.
