Since Hoppy Feet wasn’t a great IPA but was a pretty decent stout, we decided to actually grab a stout next. The first one I saw in the fridge was from the amazing Lagunitas. I recently read an article on the fastest growing craft brewers in the US and they saw growth of over 70% year over year. Impressive. They must be doing something right.
Coffee flavoured beers have been a hit around here in the last year so we had high expectations for this one. It poured out dark black (ya, dark black) with very little head, which was odd for a stout. It smelled like stout and coffee, so we’re off to a good start. Then we tried it. (insert sad face here)
It tasted mostly like a stout, a very boozy stout at that, with a hint of coffee hidden in the booty. We even let it warm up, a lot, and then it was dry and boozy. We were disappointed in this one.
A rare miss for Lagunitas from what we know of them.
