Kevin and Teri were not going to be here for Christmas day, so our family had their gathering on the 21st. On the 19th, he sent me a picture saying “Guess who’s coming to dinner”. That picture you see over there is what he sent. There are no words on the label at all, but knowing what I know about Toronto craft beer, I knew exactly what it was, and I was excited.
Last year, they made this and it sold out the same day. Apparently it’s amazing. When I heard it was coming back, I was hoping that I could get my hands on some…lookie lookie!
Right before dinner I opened it up so that it could warm up and breathe. When food arrived (Chinese) I poured out three glasses. It came out like old motor oil. The look and the consistency were almost identical. I was giddy, every one else was appalled.
I tried it when it was still cold; it was thick and stouty! Kevin took a sip and I knew right away that he was pretty much done already. Teri enjoyed most of it, but only after it warmed up. I found that when it was warm, there was a nice hint of chocolate and the smoke really started to come through.
Over the course of 3 hours, I ended up drinking about 90% of the bottle….which would explain why I was a little sleepy by the time the kids went to bed.
