Way early in the summer, the LCBO sent out a mailer advertising all the great, fun beers that were coming up. One in particular stood out from the rest; Hopcity Hopbot. First of all, Hop City! Second, IPA from Hop City! I so badly wanted this beer. Every week, I checked the webs to see if it was out yet. It wasn’t until freakin July that it was released, and even then, in Toronto only, pretty much.
Jackie had just moved there and when she was planning on coming home one weekend, the wife asked nicely if she could grab me one. The day before she came home, I noticed that Mark had checked in to it on Untappd. Turns out, the teeny-tiny LCBO by him had a butt load (real unit of measurement, by the way). Whatever, I had a special delivery version.
It poured out a great, dark yellow IPA colour and smelled like what Keith’s Cascade hops used to. It tasted fantastic; slightly spicy and full of hop flavour. I took my sweet time drinking this one.
I hope I can find it on tap soon, and that it stays in their rotation.
