This is a beer that Pat and I had back on New Years Eve, but by that time, we had two regular beers, and two strong beers, not to mention a bunch of food. So I really didn’t get a good read on it. I knew that I had another bottle in my fridge, so I saved post until I drank that one, and that happened last weekend with Mark.
It poured out dark brown and had a sweet and boozy smell to it. Everything about this beer said doppelbock. It tasted (the second time) sweet and boozy. After a while, you could taste the malts and a touch of hops, but it still wasn’t that spectacular. It fell kinda flat for me.
Mark loved it, but then again, he loves dark, malty, sweet, strong beers. So…..no wit biers for him!
