At spin class, it had come up that I generally drink beer every day, two on spin nights. A few of the girls were amazed that I could work out and then drink beer, they thought it defeated the purpose. I had to explain to them the concept of beer tax: Working out like mad to justify the amount of beer I drink. So this night, I made sure to only drink one beer… a 650 ml, 8.5% double IPA. I snapped a pic and shared it with them on the Facebook with the caption “Only one beer tonight”. They were impressed with the size of my stein.
In my feeble attempts to FIFO the beer fridge, this was technically next. Soon after, I skipped a whole bunch, and I’ll explain that in a later post. This is the second of three Boxing Rock beers that my parents brought back from their trip to the east coast. If you remember, yesterday I told you about Crafty Jack and the mountain of foam that came with it. Thankfully, I can tell you that this beer poured out much better. No foam!
It came out a nice, dark IPA orange and immediately smelled of bitter spicy hops. It tasted very hoppy, kinda dry and kinda spicy. It took a lot for me to finish this one, but luckily it was Wednesday, which means nacho night! It’s easier to drink a big beer when you are distracted by food.
For a DIPA, it was good, but it ended up being a little too strong in the end.
