I bought this guy because it had a cool name. No other reason. At the time, I didn’t notice the fact that the label isn’t smooth. It kinda has a weird texture that gives you the heeby-geebies. Gah. Pour this out!!!
I grabbed it from the fridge on a night that we spent an hour trying to figure out what to eat. Want pizza? No. Want spaghetti? No. Want fingers and fries? No. Exhausted, we decided to make breakfast for dinner: bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast..oh yeah!
Before starting brinner, I poured out the beer and took a sip to celebrate such an awesome decision. It poured out black. Very black with no real head. It smelled like vanilla, which is cool for a porter. It tasted like vanilla and chocolate. It was glorious! And you know what else? It makes a great breakfast beer! I drank the majority of it with brinner. The salt from the bacon made it taste even more like chocolate and the grease from everything else helped it slide down.
Aside from the label, this is a great beer, no matter what meal you drink it with.
