I looked in the fridge one night and I saw this black beer sitting beside a white beer and thought to myself, “Self”, I said, “wouldn’t that be a fun night; a black and white beer night”. And so I did it.
The wife grabbed this beer on one of her recent trips to replenish her Palm Bay stock. She saw the label and remembered that I liked another beer of theirs (Funnel Blower). I poured it out, grabbed my dinner and went to sit down in the living room. I sat my beer down beside the wife’s Pepsi, and you couldn’t tell which was which (except for the ice cubes in hers). That’s how dark it poured out. It smelled like a rich, malty porter. On the trail end, there was a little bit of licorice which, I have recently discovered, I don’t mind in beer. Sambucca is still a no-go however.
It tasted fantastic with rich, smooth dark malt flavours. It wasn’t heavy at all. There was a little licorice on the booty, but that dissipated into a nice fruitiness that I couldn’t describe.
I loved it so much, that I immediately checked the LCBO for where I could find more and, sadly, they were out of stock. Box Steam, can you ship me some?
