My parents make regular trips up to St Jacob’s on weekends during the summer. They like to stroll the market, pick up a few things here and there, grab some food and then come home. It’s a nice little Saturday for them.
Until I realized there was a brewery in St Jacob’s! I looked it up and asked them to bring me back whatever was available. So, on the afternoon of my birthday, they showed up at my house with a box of Chinese food (my fav) and 2 beers from Block 3.
This is their flagship beer. It’s always available on tap and in bottles at the shop. When my parents were there (remembering that they don’t drink and their only knowledge of beer comes from me), the staff were talking to them and describing the beer and the taste and the mouthfeel…they were out of their element. But hey, they brought me back beer, and I love them for it.
The description of this beer says that it’s “prefect after an afternoon stroll in the market”. It’s only 3.9%, so it’s super low in alcohol. What’s it not low in is colour. It poured out dark brown and it didn’t really smell like anything at all. It tasted dry, quite watery and a little malty. It’s not what I expected. After walking all day, I’d want something with a refreshing taste, some sweetness…not dry and meh.
Not my thing, but acceptable
