I know it’s a little late for Oktoberfest beers, but if they are still on the shelf, and if I haven’t had it, I’m going to buy it. This particular Oktoberfest lager I enjoyed with traditional Oktoberfest fare…steak and potatoes.
It poured out into my giant mug an orangey malt colour and smelled very sweet. I wanted to try it before and after my yummy prime rib steak, just to see if the cow made a difference in the flavour.
Before Cow: It tasted like a malty lager with some extra nondescript spices in there. Really sweet but easy to drink.
After Cow: The pepper from the steak intensified the spices in the beer, but it was still sweet.
Either way, it was good. It finished kinda dry near the end, but I had some lovely rare steak to help wash it down.
