The last of the Bellwoods brews that my brother brought down for me, and I saved the best for last. I had heard of Witchshark a few times before on the blog and the twitters, so I knew it was supposed to be a fantastic beer. The last batch of Bellwoods beers I got didn’t have any labels, just hand written stickers to tell you what it was. No other details. Now, they have beautiful labels with words on them that tell you things. Now I know that Wicthshark is an Imperial IPA.
So on a night that I knew that beer was necessary (the first time one of my kids had a friend sleep over!) I grabbed it to enjoy alongside my trusty friend, Domino’s Pizza. It came out IPA coloured and was quite cloudy. The smell of hops smacked you in the face like an ex-girlfriend, and it was glorious! The taste was amazing, full of pine and citrus. It didn’t even really feel like it was that high in ABV.
I took my sweet time drinking this. I even asked my brother if he could go and get me 6 more. Unfortunately, he was on his way to New York and I wouldn’t see him for a while, so no go (he did bring back a nice beer from NYC though, stay tuned for that “hotness”). I would say this is probably the best beer I’ve had since Rebel IPA or Punk IPA (you think I like IPAs?)
