I’m sure I’ve had this before, but it would have been back in school (going back 15 years…damn I’m old). I have absolutely no memories of it, so it’s like a new beer all over again.
The can gave me the usual blah blah blah about the German Purity Law of 1516 and it’s long standing tradition of excellence. I figured it was a good beer since 1) it’s German, and the Germans make good stuff and b) they’ve been around for 130 years.
It poured out beer coloured and had that distinct Euro-lager smell to it; spicy, tin-like and sweet. It tasted like a German lager, but it was a little spicier than the rest. It may have helped that I was chowing down on some Little Caesars Deep Dish (the best pizza for $10).
Even though it’s classified as a cheap beer these days, I kinda liked it. I’d probably never order it in a bar, but if I feel like being snooty at a party, I’d grab some.
