Beau’s and I have had a little disagreement in the past. I have hardly liked any of their beers and they don’t care. I keep saying that I’m not going to buy any more of their stuff because nothing has really clicked with me. Maybe I don’t like their style or their methods or something, but overall, I don’t like anything they have to offer.
After complaining one too many times, my twitter feed was blowing up with people telling me that it was me, not them, that was the problem, that they make beers that “other brewers are afraid to make”, and that I should really try their flagship beer, Lug Tread. Well, if I could ever find it in a single, or at least not tied to three other beers with twine, I’d buy it.
So, when I was at the huge ass LCBO in Toronto last week, I just happened to see a Lug Tread, in the fridge, alone. This was the first time I’d seen a single, or in the fridge. Of course, without thinking how much I don’t like their beer, I grabbed it. Besides, Warren even said it was good……I had to try it.
It poured out clear yellow and didn’t smell like anything. Not sure at this point if that’s a good thing or bad thing. When I finally tasted it, after much hesitation, I found it tasted…..good! Holy crap! A Beau’s that I like? This can’t be. It was slightly sweeter and maltier than a regular ale, but lighter than a standard lager.
I will no longer hesitate to buy that 4-pack now. I have actually recommended it to some friends. What have you done to me, Beau?
