Here goes another from the much-better-than-last-year Beau’s Oktoberfest pack. The handy information card that came with it described the beer and then said that it is not meant to be aged, so go drink it NOW. Sorry, I was a little tardy and it took me a week to get to it (nevermind the fact that the wife bought me another pack a few weeks later….)
I have no idea what zwickel beer is, so I was hoping that I wouldn’t pour it out and be stuck with a crappy, nasty tasting beer….much like Smokin Banana Peels last year. It poured out an amber-brown and smelled salty and malty. It tasted light and it had a dry, lager-like booty. It wasn’t until I checked in that I saw that it was classed as a Keller beer (I really liked Creemore’s). A few days after drinking it, I came across a tweet that directed me to a link that explained it all for me.
Yup, that’s pretty much what I experienced.
