Kevin was out at the Barley Days one weekend while Teri was out running a marathon. That seems to be what he does; his wife runs, he buys beer at whatever brewery is closest. Anywho, I had just picked up my phone when he had sent me a pic of their retail board and said:
I made my order and two weeks later, it arrived. It sat in the fridge for about a week, and then I had one hell of a long day. It started at 9 with us getting the kids in the van to go to an all day soccer tournament. (for simplicity, I’ll use numbers to represent my children). 1 and 3 played at two different fields at 9:30, 3 played at 10:30, 2 played at 11:30 and then 1 played again at 1:30…all the while, 4 was an angel sitting in the wagon and eating whatever we gave him to keep him happy. After those 6 hours, we took off to Pat’s party (the one with the car cake the wife made during Sleepy Time Stout) where they had burgs and dogs and a keg of Keith’s.
After all that, when I got home and put the kids to bed, I needed something fun. I grabbed Harvest Gold and poured it out. It was pale yellow and smelled very malty. Surprising, you know, coming from a brewery named Barley Days..
It tasted ok. It was light, but a little too malty for me. Apparently I’ve discovered that I like pale ales, but American, not English.
Let’s hope the second one Kevin brought back is better.
