Summer means one thing to the distinguished beer drinker….weisse time! Since the wife stocked the fridge with plenty of these guys, all I have to do now is wait for the weather to turn nice so I can enjoy them. Last weekend was a hot one and we spent the day at my parents house by the pool. I brought my own beer, since they don’t seem to want to supply me with any, which included a few Heniekens and this monstrous orange bottle.
Now of course, we all know that weisse beers have sediment in them, and they need to be swished and swirled about before you drink them. This bottle, however, is completely painted orange, so there is no way of seeing if there was any. So, the nice poeple at Amsterdam Brewery included instructions on how to do the “weisse roll” on the side.
I poured it out into a comically large lemonade glass, since my parents didn’t have anything big enough to hold 500ml. It was orange! A beautiful shade of beer-orange (I want a car painted that colour). It smelled like oranges too, which is good, since it’s made with two different kinds of orange peel. Once you’ve had a few tastes, it starts to develop a spicy taste, which was nice.
A perfectly refreshing beer for a super hot day! I will grab as many of these as I can before September, when they aren’t available anymore.
