Galaxy Hop is said to be floral and fruity, great for a hot summer day, too bad I drank this during the dregs of winter in Canada. My thoughts on this beer are a little split, the best way to explain it is that it falls right between the previous 2 Hop Series beers; it was good not great. It was light and drinkable, but did not wow me at all. 2 points I should make on this beer:
- It is better from the bottle than the can, I mean WAY better
- It pairs really well with Kellogg’s Fruit Loops
Right before Mark left for Florida, Keith’s came out with a new Hop Series beer. Right after Mark left, the wife grabbed three cans and said “one for each of you and one for you to drink before and not tell Mark”. NO, I said. I wouldn’t do that. We were supposed to drink this together.
Little did I know that the weekend they got back (and I was in Florida) he decided the he didn’t care about me at all and picked some up and drank it. Douche! We did drink them when we got back though, literally the day we got back!
It poured out clear and slightly amberish. It smelled like grapefruits but it tasted kinda bland. There was no overpowering hop character or abundance of sweetness. It was kinda just meh. By the time I was done, it started to taste like carbonated pamplemousse juice!
It wasn’t great, but at least it wasn’t Hallertauer!
